Greetings ~
Zona Heaster Shue is the only recorded case of a ghost returning to tell who murdered her. Zona was a young woman who left home young and began working in the city like so many women in the latter years of the 1800s. She met Erasmus Stribbling Trout Shue, a blacksmith, and after only a few months of courting, they were married. Unknown to Zona, Erasmus had been married twice before. His first marriage ended in divorce because he had been very abusive to his wife. His second marriage ended when his wife died mysteriously. Zona was his third marriage.
When Zona was found dead by a neighborhood boy in her home, it was decided that she died of natural causes. However, when her spirit came back to tell her mother that Erasmus had strangled her because he was upset that she had made his dinner of vegetables and bread only with no meat, Zona's mother told her story and Zona's grave was opened and the coroner performed an autopsy. The findings were that Zona was indeed strangled and Erasmus was arrested and charged with her murder.
